Brewing news Russia & Ukraine: Ochakovo begins exporting draugth beer

Moscow based non-alcoholic beer brewer “Ochakovo” has started export deliveries of draught beer in restaurants, cafe and night clubs of Ukraine. The corresponding contract has been signed with a local distribution company up to the end of 2006 for a total sum of $100,000, the Union of Russian Brewers said May 25.

According to "Ochakovo" 2006 Q1 results, exports sales volume has grown 16.2 % in money expression in comparison with the similar period of the last year. Beer is still covering 73 % of the total amount of sales. 14.5 % of Ochakovo sales are driven by Ochakovsky kvass sales. Strong and weak alcohol amounted 12.5 % of sold production.

"Ochakovo" experiences for the first time exporting draught beer. No such record existed earlier, when production was spread abroad only in plastic and glass bottles, and also aluminium banks. Sales of draught beer on became complicated from a single point of view, and namely complex logistics. Therefore an initial problem for Ochakovo was the development of constant trade channels providing precise and as much as possible profitable delivery of production. And also maintenance of properly return of container for repeated drink filling.
According to the arrangements with the Ukrainian importers, Ochakovo will deliver the draught beer in ten prestigious restaurants and bars of Odessa. Places of sales will be completed by firm attributes "Ochakovo": placards, mugs, ashtrays, lighters, etc. Besides this, sales of draught production will get additionally support: for example, in the summer, Ochakovo becomes the sponsor of popular local festival "Sea surf ".

"Odessa is chosen by us not casually,” - Ochakovo sales manager Vladimir Kochetov said. “First, this city traditionally collects a plenty of tourists that should provide our company necessary volumes of realization of drinks. Secondly, the site of Odessa will allow to use it as jumping-off place for an output on the next regions and will provide "Ochakovo " presence at all Crimean coast of Black sea ".
